According to the type and variety of melon, the thick-skinned large fruit is fleshy, juicy and has many seeds. Its homeland is Central Asia, Iran and Anatolia. While the main species grown in Turkey are Topatan, Hasanbey, Van melon, Altınbaş Kızılırmak, Ankara melon, Kırkağaç (Manisa) melon, there are also many domestic and foreign hybrid varieties.
